Center of Leisure 1984 Moscow Art Center The main architectural and planning idea of the Center is as follows: it is a system of open and roofed courtyards with premises of similar functions located around. The intent was to achieve a surprise effect by contrasting narrow corridors and light-filled courts of various shapes. Each of the latter contains an element denoting the function of the premises, for instance, a fir-tree, a fountain, a statue, a pavilion, and so forth. We were after an architectural environment corresponding to man's needs – a "humanized" architectural environment, were people, not architecture or empty space, will play the leading role.
